COVID-19 UPDATE

Dear patients and parents of the Kids Dental Center:

We hope this letter finds you, your family, and loved ones in good health. Our community –and the world- has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forwards to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety and dental health.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office.

Governor Hogan has announced that dental offices can re-open. The additional infection control procedures that we have instituted meet and/or exceed health and safety standards and requirements for both patients and staff. Our office adheres to current infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We continue to follow the recommendations of these agencies so that we are up to date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.

You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• All patients, parents, and dental personnel are required to wear face masks.
• Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked the same questions again when you are in the office.
• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. There is additional hand sanitizer in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
• Our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect. Unfortunately, the playroom is also closed.
• We have installed clear plastic dividers (“sneeze guards”) around the waiting room, receptionist desk, and clinic area.
• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients.
• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

Estimados pacientes y padres del Kids Dental Center:

Esperamos que esta carta te encuentre a ti, a tu familia y a tus seres queridos en buen estado de salud. Nuestra comunidad, y el mundo, ha pasado por mucho en los últimos meses, y todos estamos deseando reanudar nuestros hábitos y rutinas normales. Si bien muchas cosas han cambiado, una cosa ha permanecido igual: nuestro compromiso con su seguridad y salud dental.

El control de infecciones siempre ha sido una prioridad para nuestra práctica y es posible que lo haya visto durante sus visitas a nuestra oficina.

El gobernador Hogan ha anunciado que las oficinas dentales pueden reabrir. Los procedimientos adicionales de control de infecciones que hemos instituido cumplen y/o exceden los estándares y requisitos de salud y seguridad tanto para los pacientes como para el personal. Nuestra oficina se adhiere a las recomendaciones actuales de control de infecciones hechas por la Asociación Dental Americana (ADA), los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC) de los Estados Unidos y la Administración de Seguridad y Salud Ocupacional (OSHA, por sus) Seguimos siguiendo las recomendaciones de estas agencias para que estemos al día sobre cualquier nueva resolución u orientación que pueda emitirse.

Es posible que veas algunos cambios cuando llegue el momento de tu próxima consulta. Hicimos estos cambios para ayudar a proteger a nuestros pacientes y personal. Por ejemplo:

• Todos los pacientes, padres y personal dental deben usar máscaras faciales.
• Nuestra oficina se comunicará con usted de antemano para hacer algunas preguntas de detección. Se le harán las mismas preguntas de nuevo cuando esté en la oficina.
• Tenemos desinfectante de manos que le pediremos que utilice cuando entre en la oficina. Hay desinfectante de manos adicional en el área de recepción y otros lugares en la oficina para que usted pueda utilizar según sea necesario.
• Nuestra sala de espera ya no ofrecerá revistas, juguetes para niños, etc., ya que esos artículos son difíciles de limpiar y desinfectar. Desafortunadamente, la sala de juegos también está cerrada.
• Hemos instalado divisores de plástico transparente ("guardias de estornudos") alrededor de la sala de espera, el escritorio recepcionista y el área clínica.
• Las citas se gestionarán para permitir el distanciamiento social entre los pacientes.
• Haremos todo lo posible para permitir un mayor tiempo entre los pacientes para reducir los tiempos de espera para usted, así como para reducir el número de pacientes en el área de recepción en cualquier momento.
